Salinas Grandes

This is a salt desert located in the province of Jujuy, in the north of Argentina. A 3,200 square mile salt desert at 3 350 m. of altitude. It’s a huge salt surface made of a 30cm thick layer crust. You can drive, ride, walk on it. The place’s sunny, silent, windy. Magnifique! The locals are carving stones, making beautiful work out of them. Some have their face covered with some sort of woolen masks to protect them from the sun.
