About Plaza Dorrego

Bloged in Facts of Buenos Aires by k_aggery Saturday January 6, 2007

For today’s posting and to write about another must-see place in Buenos Aires, we’re going to San Telmo to present you Plaza Dorrego, another traditional place where Argentines and tourists go for a walk.
Plaza Dorrego, in San Telmo neighborhood, has been in place since 1970. Initially, only antiques were offered. Every Sunday, around eight thousand people fill the square and a great variety of objects are offered in the 270 stands of the market. In the streets surrounding the square, you can see different artistic tango and folklore shows in addition to plastic artists exhibitions. The market is in the heart of the traditional San Telmo neighborhood where many of its old big houses of the 19th century were recycled to become antiques shops and first class restaurants.
