Che Guevare in a French commercial

Bloged in France, Just another posting by k_aggery Sunday December 21, 2008

While I’m spending some vacations in France, I saw this commercial in a local newspaper. It always surprises me to see how the Che Guevara’s image is used widly around the world. In this case, they used it for promoting a ski resort in the Pyrenees [mountains between Spain and France]. It does say something like: “Freedom at the end of the ski.” They also used the ski resort white symbol on what looks like the Che’s hat. None of this makes sense to me. What do you think?

Discovering TV5

Bloged in France by k_aggery Saturday November 4, 2006

I have to admit that most of the time I spent watching TV is to watch movies in English, and Argentinian news channels. Recently I got myself watching more and more the french Tv5 channel, mostly the news to kind of keep in touch with what’s happening over there. Then I discovered the website TV5 and I found lots of resourceful links, info, especially the one link about culture du monde, well-designed with videos, photos and interesting texts. The site is worth checking for all the French people around the world - and those of you in France too :) The site is only available in French though.

Perpignan, City #2, in pictures

Bloged in France by k_aggery Wednesday August 2, 2006

Second link up and running where you’ll be discovering pictures of Perpignan, the city where I spent most of my university years. Located near the Mediteranean sea, located in the French Catalonia. A funny story about the city is that following a visit in 1963, the Catalan surrealist artist Salvador Dalí declared the city’s railway station’s toilets, the center of the Universe. Above the station is a monument in Dali’s honour, and on the station’s ground is painted, in big letters, « perpignan centre du monde » (French for “perpignan centre of the world“).

Busy 14th of July

Bloged in France by k_aggery Saturday July 15, 2006

Ahhh days are going way too fast and we’re doing so much I don’t feel like I can really rest. I feel tired and the heat just knocked me down :o Yesterday I wanted to post pictures of our trip, well I just could not do it. Busy watching the Tour de France; right at our door, Carcassonne was bustling with tons of tourists, I had never saw so much people in the city!! It was fun though. Moreover, they were broadcasting a TV show right in the center of the city, so it was packed again with people watching French variety singers. You can take a look at a picture of the fireworks here.
Here’s a picture of the Tour de France speeding up right in front of our house :)

Today we’re going to Font-Romeu, a city in the Pyrénéens. We feel we need to take some fresh air and get away from the city for a few days.

As I see our last week schedule, I may not have time posting the pictures. Either way, if I can do it next week I’ll work on them, if not, I’ll do that when we’ll be back to Buenos Aires in a week.
